A star wars lamp from the mid-1970s that has been in the closet for decades is set to become the first Christmas decoration to go up on the ceiling of a Wal-Mart store.
The star is the second of three in the star wars collection and the second to go on the walls of the retailer’s flagship store.
Walmart plans to use the star lamp to mark the holidays.
“We think it is a really cool addition to the store and it is going to be a real highlight for our employees,” Wal-mart spokesman Josh Wertheim told CNNMoney.
“We’ve seen a lot of inspiration from Star Wars over the years.
We think it will be a very cool addition for the store.”
Wal-mart, which has more than 1,200 stores in the United States, has a longstanding partnership with Lucasfilm and Disney, with both companies using the iconic toy line as inspiration.
The toy line has been used as a Christmas ornament for more than 70 years.
Star Wars merchandise, which was released in 1977, includes toys, comics, apparel, action figures and even food.
